TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) Therapy is a non-invasive, drug-free pain relief technique that uses low-voltage electrical currents to stimulate the nerves and reduce pain signals reaching the brain.
Small electrodes are placed on the skin near the painful area. The electrical impulses interfere with pain signals travelling to the brain and also stimulate the production of endorphins — the body's natural painkillers.
TENS is safe, comfortable, and effective for both acute and chronic pain conditions. It is often used as part of a comprehensive physiotherapy programme to manage pain while other treatments address the underlying cause.
